The library is the heart of every university. Around it and through it pulses the life-blood of not just the student body, faculty, and staff, but also of the larger community that surrounds that particular educational institution. The university library is the institution's intellectual and cultural center, a repository and sanctuary for books and documents, a center for displays and exhibits, a place for all the people it serves to gather, to gain and share ideas, hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
The Friends of the Eastern Michigan University Library exists to ensure that the Eastern Michigan University Library continues to serve its community in these many ways--the ways to which its constituency has become accustomed and which it deserves.
